West Coast Adventures: Kalaloch Beaches

While I loved the forest hikes, it was impossible to remain inland when the coast was so near.  So we took a break from the moss and the pines and the huckleberries, and spent some hours by the ocean.  Swimming was out of question–the icy water would make my feet cramp as soon as I let it wash over my toes–but for once, I didn’t mind.  Instead, I spent the day scrambling on the ocean-side rocks and peering into tidepools.  (There were overwhelmingly many sea stars, sea anemones, hermit crabs, and other creatures!)
